25 Nov Psalm 136
Psalm 136 is a call to give thanks to the LORD. I pray that this Thanksgiving you will be able to reflect on how much you are blessed and loved by God in Christ Jesus. His enduring and persistent love for you and me is reason enough to exhaust every offering of thanks we can think of and give to our Father in Heaven.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods, for his steadfast love endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for his steadfast love endures forever;
4 to him who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever;
This wonderful psalm ends with these verses below, giving thanks to our God who remembers us when we are most needy and comes to rescue us when things are the most hopeless. God did not forget His promises to undo the curse of the Fall, to deliver us from death and the Devil and to remove our sins completely away from us. Yes, this Psalm is ultimately fulfilled for you and me in Jesus. He is our rescuer and champion who is God’s enduring love in human flesh, and what he accomplished on the cross for you endures forever – your sins are forgiven and you have life without end.
23 It is he who remembered us in our low estate, for his steadfast love endures forever;
24 and rescued us from our foes, for his steadfast love endures forever;
25 he who gives food to all flesh, for his steadfast love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.
God bless each and every one of you. Have a most joyful and thankful Thanksgiving.
